Precious is a beautiful 9-month-old girl. A few weeks after she was born, her parents noticed her head was growing faster than the rest of her body. For the last 8 months Precious’s mother has been given appointment after appointment at a hospital in Mombasa, but her daughter never received any medical help. Nine months later, with an empty wallet and fading hope, a former BethanyKids patient referred them to Kijabe.  Barely a day after their arrival last week, Precious had a shunt inserted to check the hydrocephalus, and has now considerably recovered.

“I cry because God answered my prayer.” says Precious’s mother, “I only had the fare to the hospital, but my daughter has been operated on, and I know God will provide the funds to pay for the surgery.” You only have to see the sincerity in her eyes and faith in her voice to believe that God will do it for her, and many others who share the same story, if not worse, in the same ward.
